Ah, the holidays. My favorite time of year when my Super Power of Buying the Perfect Gift gets the most use. I love the look on their faces and the “How did you know?!” – AH it’s the best. Such joy on both sides.
If you’re around these people on a daily basis, it’s easier. You observe. You listen. You make notes in your phone of what they said they needed, or were obsessed with, or remember loving at one time.
But I TOTALLY understand how hard it can be – especially when you live far away from those you love. And there are some people who are just hard to buy for no matter your skills. ESPECIALLY when you want to make sure you’re not wasting your money on something they’ll just throw to the side after 5 minutes.
So I’m here to help. All the things on these guides are under $100, most are under $50. They are all things that can be ordered while waiting in the school pick-up line, or in the 15 minutes you would typically have left at night to scroll Instagram. No worries, I got you.
While I do not have any children of my own, I am Aunt Mel. I have 5 nieces and a nephew and will buy their love until the day when they can return the favor. And even then I’ll still send them things when it reminds me of their beautiful faces. ANYWAYS, I think these are the coolest, most fun things around for the littles in your life. These gifts should get you to at least age 5. Also, my rules for kid gifts in the winter begin and end with “can they play with it inside?” because otherwise what’s the point? Sidenote: I don’t believe in giving things with licensed graphics unless it’s an exceptional circumstance. (That circumstance is usually tiny and cute.)
Listen, they’re way cooler than you at this stage. Don’t fight it. Just buy something that’s a little older than their age or something that’s slightly extravagant. Also, gender is a construct – this generation doesn’t care if it’s for boys or girls or whatever. Just that it’s fire.
Then there are those people in your life that you know, but you don’t know, you know? Like the stylist who cuts your hair, the Secret Santa at your office, your child’s teacher, your next door neighbor, your brother’s new girlfriend. You want to show your holiday spirit, but also, UGH gift cards….again? Fear not, there are cool things out there to solve that tricky problem.
Did they make you a meal? Did you sleep in their house? Then you need to show them your thanks for putting up with you. Besides, if they managed to take care of another human with all that’s going on in their lives, they deserve an award. And you want to be invited back, yes? So you need a gift.
My god men are hard to shop for. “I don’t need anything” oh just hush your mouth. Let me buy something for you, man! Something that you’ll use daily, or enjoy, or something that will make you look good to whomever you’re attracted to. Sheesh. Here are some things that your husband, son, brother, dad, uncle or grandpa should love.
There is no gift that can ever repay the emotional labor being done by literally every female in your life. This group of gifts are things for your wives, sister, Aunties, Moms, Grandmas, her friends, the caregivers all around you. Things she’s not going to buy for herself. Probably because she’s too busy worrying about what to get you…
Stocking stuffers, advent calendars, a little something for no reason, maybe for Hanukkah whatever you’re celebrating these are the little things for everyone in your life.
PHEW! And that’s a wrap! Literally, I hope you find just what you’re looking for and can wrap it right up.
Happiest of Holiday Seasons to you all!!!
